In this paper, analysis on effect of four kind of vegetation restoration models on soil physical,chemical and biological properties were done on limestone mountain region in Xuzhou, and the soil comprehensive quality status were evaluated. The result as follows:(1) Different vegetation restoration models had different effects on soil physical properties. Among the kind of vegetation restoration models, the soil water content, the soil total porosity and the soil retention ability of mixed forestâ…¡were the highest, the order as follows: mixed forestâ…¡>mixed forestâ… >Platycladus orientalis (Linn.)Franco plantation>artificial broad leaved forest. The soil bulk density showed the opposite tendency, and mixed forestâ…¡reached the lowest level. The results indicate that, the soil physical properties were effectively improved after one course of natural succession from Platycladus orientalis (Linn.)Franco plantation to mixed forest.(2) Different vegetation restoration models had different effects on soil chemical properties. The soil organic matter content and total nitrogen content showed the same tendency among the kind of vegetation restoration models, namely mixed forestâ…¡>mixed forestâ… >Platycladus orientalis (Linn.)Franco plantation>artificial broad leaved forest. The soil available nitrogen, available phosphorus, total potassium and available potassium content showed the same tendency, namely mixed forestâ…¡>mixed forestâ… >artificial broad leaved forest>Platycladus orientalis (Linn.)Franco plantation. The order of total phosphorus content was mixed forestâ…¡>Platycladus orientalis (Linn.)Franco plantation>mixed forestâ… >artificial broad leaved forest. The difference was 0.01g/kg between Platycladus orientalis (Linn.)Franco plantation and mixed forestâ… .It can be seen the soil organic matter content and all kinds nutrient content of mixed forestâ…¡were the highest among the kind of vegetation restoration models. The results indicate that, the soil chemical properties were effectively improved after one course of natural succession from Platycladus orientalis (Linn.)Franco plantation to mixed forest.(3) Different vegetation restoration models had different effects on soil biological properties. The order of soil Water-soluble Organic Carbon content was artificial broad leaved forest>mixed forestâ…¡>mixed forestâ… >Platycladus orientalis (Linn.)Franco plantation. The order of soil microbial biomass carbon was mixed forestâ…¡>Platycladus orientalis (Linn.)Franco plantation>mixed forestâ… >mixed forestâ…¡.(4) The soil comprehensive quality index of four kind of vegetation restoration models as follows: mixed forestâ…¡was 1.476,mixed forestâ… was 11.161, Platycladus orientalis (Linn.)Franco plantation was -2.278, artificial broad leaved forest was -4.312.It can be seen that the soil comprehensive quality index of mixed forestâ…¡was the highest, mixed forestâ… ranked secondly, and their soil quality were higher than the average level. It shows that mixed forestâ… and mixed forestâ…¡had optimal improvement effect on soil quality in this area.
