With the development of social economy, people's diet habits are gradually changing, healthy diet has already become an active demand for improving people's life quality. Continuously outbreaks of animal loimia remind us the importance of animal-derived food tracing for people and society stable development. Tracing and identifying animal is an important means of enhancing animal-derived food tracing regulations in the world. Therefore, establishing the animal identification system will play an important role for improving the quality of our products and international competitiveness.Wireless data communication system was studied based on embedded technology and GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) technology in this research. This system can be used to transmit animal ID in animal identification real-timely and accurately. At present, wired communication mode has been mostly used in the field of data transmission. Wireless data transmission has greater advantage than wired communication. Embedded technology and GPRS technology applied to data transmission in this research will become the development trend of industry control and remote monitoring.Wireless data communication system based on ARM and GPRS composed of the server and the transmission terminal, which are connected through the Internet and GPRS network. Client/server and Socket programming were used to carry out network transmission. The server can be a computer with the function of network, and the transmission terminal is an embedded system that consisted of ARM processor and other interfaces. And it can be connected to the Internet through a GPRS modem.On the basis of analyzing system function requirement and relevant theory, GPRS wireless data transmission system was designed and developed based on embedded technology development platform and GPRS technology. ARM9 S3C2410 was selected as the core and Siemens MC55 (GPRS module) was selected as the wireless data transmission module of hardware development platform. Linux operating system was taken as embedded software. Based on software development platform, TCP/IP link layer was linked and transport layer was communicated by GPRS module. Animal ID, which was read by RFID reader, was used as data source to test the system function of data transmission, and the result suggested that the system can meet the design demands.There were some characteristics like the high transmission speed, stable and reliable, instantaneity and low cost in wireless data communication system. The system can be used in animal farm to realize animal ID transmission wirelessly and real-timly.
