Current Status And Protection Strategy Of The Famous And Historic Trees In Biyang County

With field survey combining with visiting from 2006 to 2008 years at Biyang county, preservation of famous and historic trees were surveyed comprehensively, and the protection were also studied, it shows that:First, some situations of the famous and historic trees were felt out at Biyang county, such as resources types, quantity, distribution status and survival. They were distributed at 19 towns, and there were 199 trees at state-owned forest, mainly involving in Chinese scholartree, Chinese honey locust, qinqko and so on.Second, age of the famous and historic trees were 40% above 1,000 years, while 60% in 100 to 1000 years, it explained that there were fertile soil and the good weather conditions at Biyang county.Third, 91% of famous and historic trees distributed at the concentration of human activity, such as village side, house side, roadside, temples side, the water side, the grave side, and so on. But they were rare at few people; God worship were not only making people consciously protected famous and historic trees growth, but also some special species of plants were planted largely, so many famous trees which was concerned with historical culture, humanistic traditions and folk tales were preserved and developed largely.Forth, sampling trees were up to 77.14% in all famous and historic trees. Almost every famous and historic tree has romaunt and historical data, this uniqueness illustrated fully that preservation and development of famous and historic trees play a important role in human.Fifth, it was the first step that maked unified numbers for famous and historic trees and clarified its ownership. Such as living environment, growed position, sited conditions, age of tree, height of tree, crown width, chest circumference and growth potential, ownership, growth characteristics of trees, historical culture, the humanities and customs, these investigated and written datum offered a foundation for the protection of famous and historic trees.Sixth, the characteristics of the famous and historic trees were analysed, which involved in species, age, location, the origin, distribution, morphology, ownership, value, vitality, ecological, social culture; Then the protection methods were put forward : keeping its original living environment as far as possible; improving soil structure of its grown as far as possible, enhancing capability of water retention and ventilation; Strengthening water management and according to the characteristics species of famous trees to making management plan; controlling Pest and curing hole; While strengthening weak tree regeneration and the fenced work of natural disaster, and adopting specific measures to protect the famous and historic trees.Seventh, promoting actively the legislation protect system for famous and historic trees, perfecting legislation through sounding the legal system of famous and historic trees constantly, thus we could realized protection and sustainable development of famous and historic trees in perfect legal system.
