The conflict between Supply and demand of Lolium multiflorum is prominent in recent years. Experimental plots for breeding were setted up in this reasearch.To establish system of breeding technology in the middle reaches of Changjiag River and greatly enhance the yield and quality of China's per unit area and ecological forage grass seed, comparison research of Lolium multiflorum varieties, density experiment, seeding time experiment, fertilizer test and the study on the culm lodging resistance of Lolium multiflorum were conducted.The results of this rearearch as follows:1)Yield reasearch of 14 Lolium multiflorum varieties was conducted,Diamond T,Gulf and Tetragold were more prominent that the growth potential and the quantity of production were superior to other varieties.Therefore the most suitable varieties grown in our region were Dimond T,Gulf and Tetragold.2)With the purpose of seed productivity of Lolium multiflorum in our region, the suitable sowing date is in mid-10,which is after the sowing date of late double-harvest rice.3)In order to reach high seed yield, it is recommend that the sowing rate is 1.5kg/hm2 for planting Lolium multiflorum. Seed yield of seeding quantity 1.5kg/hm2 is above the seed yield of seeding quantity 0.75kg/hm2 and 2.25kg/hm2.Too high or too low sowing rate is not conducive to seed productivity.4)Lolium multiflorum is extremely sensitive to fertilization. Fertilization of 75kg/hm2 at stem elongation stage gave the highest seed yield. Because the thousand-seed weight and number of spikelet were increased at stem elongation stage. During this period,topdressing fertilizer,to improve the seed yield is of great significance.5)Spraying Paclobutrazol can increase tillers of Lolium multiflorum,shorten plantheight,reduce lodging area and significantly increase seed production of Lolium multiflorum.The most important, the actual seed yield is not affected because of avoiding seed dropping.lt is recommened for spraying 500mg/L and Spraying 1500L/hm2.
