RADIOSENSITIZATION EXPERIMENT OF SHENLONGYE HERBS IN MICE WITH S₁80 SARCOMA*

Objective To evaluate the radiosensitizing effect of the ShenLongYe(SLY) herbs combined with radiation in mice with S180 sarcoma . Methods The mice 1Ith S180 sarcoma were randomized into four groups: control group, SLY group, radiation alone group and SLY +radiation group. Each mouse was provided with herbs by P.O.,O.4m1,once a day, continuous 15 days in SLY group and SLY+radiation group. The tumor inhibitive rate was observed by using dose in 8Gy for one fractional irradiation, and the Dose Modifying Factor(DMIF)was assessed by using doses in 2.5GY ,5GY , 1 OGy, 1 5Gy and 2OGY for one fractional irradiation respectively. Results As compared with control group, the I~ 2000 ~5 ~ tumor inhibitive rates of other relevant groups was as follows: SLY group22.75%, radiation alone group 30.69% and SLY+radiation 51.85% respectively , and the mean weight of tumor in SLY+radiat ion group showed significant difference comparing with radiation alone group after experiment(P<0.05). The mean DMIF of SLY +radiation group was 1.26. Conclusion The SLY combined with radiation have the radiosensitizing effect in mice with S180 sarcoma.
