The Significance Of Bcl-2 And Bax Expression In Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

THE SIGNIFICANCE 0F BCL--2 AND BAX EXPRESSI0N1N MS0P-0sAn cancIwouanSTaxCT0bjective To detect the expression rates of Bcl--2 andBax in Nasopharyngea1 carcinoma, especia11y in vesicu1arnucleus cell carcinoma, and to eva1uate their effectson the carcinogenesis and the aggression of theNasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).Methods The expression of Bc1--2 and Bax proteins weredisplayed by the inununohistochemical staining in l0normal nasopharyngea1 epithe1 ia, and 40 vesicu1arnucleus cell carcinoma (VNCC) and 20 poorlydifferentiated squamous ce11 carcinoma (PDSCC).Resu1ts In l0 normal nasopharyngeal epithe1 ia, Bcl--2protein was expressed in the basal cells while Baxprote in in the who1e 1ayer of the epithe1 ium. The positiverates of Bc1--2 expression was 35.48% in the paratumortissue, 90% in the tissue of NPC, 97. 5% in the tissue ofVNCC and 75% in the tissue of PDSCC respective1y. The- l -positive rates of Bax expression was 96.77% in the paratumor tissue, 78. 33% in the tissue of NPC, 75% in the tissue of VNCC and 85% in .the tissue of PDSCC respectively.Conclusion Proteins of Bcl? and Bax may affect the apoptosis in NPC, which means Bcl? and Bax gene codes protein may play some roles in the carcinogenesis and aggression of NPC. The positive rates of Bcl? expression in VNCC were higher than that in PDSCC, In NPC Bcl?\Bcl? was dominated, especially in VNCC, which implies there are some effects of it on the carcinogenesis and aggression of NPC.
