Objective: To investigate the difference between the expression of monocyte chemoattractant protein 3 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma and benign nasopharyngeal tissues, and the correlation between the expression of monocyte chemoattractant protein 3 and clinical pathological data of patients. Methods: Collected 54 nasopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma specimens confirmed by pathology department of Affiliated Hospital of Guilin Medical College from January 2013 to August 2013 and 26 benign nasopharyngeal specimens were collected as control.Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of MCP-3,and the clinicopathological data of the patients were collected. The correlation between the expression of MCP-3 and clinicopathological data of the patients were analyzed by statistical methods. Results: Among the 54 nasopharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas,39 cases(39 cases/54 cases,72.22%)were positive for MCP-3,which was significantly higher than that of benign nasopharyngeal tissues(3 cases/26 cases,11.54%).The difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).In the correlation analysis of clinicopathological features of NPC tissues, the expression of MCP-3 was correlated with lymph node metastasis, recurrence and survival in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma(P < 0.05),but not with age,sex and clinical stage.Discussion: Compared with benign nasopharyngeal tissues,MCP-3 has a higher positive expression rate in nasopharyngeal carcinoma tissues. In patients with lymph node metastasis, the positive expression rate of MCP-3 is higher, and those with positive expression have a higher tendency to relapse after treatment.
