Diabetic gastroparesis (DGP) is a common and chronic complication of diabetes. It has a high incidence rate ,and its pathological character mainly refers to delayed gastric emptying. Clinical situation may include the symptoms of diabetes, the symptoms in digestive tract such as early satiety, postprandial abdominal bloating, paroxysmal retching, constipation etc.Modern medicine believed that the pathogenesis of DGP mainly related to the gastric dyskinesis, functional disorder of gastrointestine, hyperglycemia, autonomic nerve dysfunction, secretory disorder of gastrointestinal hormone. The research on DGP all around the world recently focus on the effect of abnormal variation of gastrointestinal kinetics, the concentration variation of blood sugar, dysfunction of autonomic nerve, secretory disorder of gastrointestinal hormone. The pathology of DGP is mainly characterized by the delay of gastric emptying and disorder of gastric kinetics based on the study mentioned all above, but there is no clinical report on syndrome study, basic pathogenesis and characteristics of pathogenesis of DGP based on the holism(the conception of the organism as a whole) and the theory of etiology and pathogenesls of TCM.The study on DGI2 in TCM may pertain to the "ullness sensation in the chest and abdomen"or "astric fullness"of TCMaccoeding to the main cIinicaI sitoation. The content or "gnstricfullness "may incIude different dlsease sucb as chronic gastritis, functional dysPepsia, gastroptosis. Tbe patbogenesis or "gaStricfuIIness" is reIated tO the tunctionaI disoIder ot the oopns, such asIiveI'' heaI-t, sPjeen, and the syndrome Iocation is stomacb andsPleen. Most of pkysicians think tbe differentiation or the syndromemay be divided into many kinds or the syndrome, liki thesyndrome or food accumuIation and sPutum stugnatlon, thesyndrome of Iiver depmsion and sPleen stagnatio", th. syndromeof sl,Ieen-stomach vacuity' the syndrome or liver depression andspIeen vacuily. DGP is another Idnd or "gastric fulIness" based onthe diabetes orM caIIed xiaoke), it is a new patboIogicaI stage ortbe development of xiaok', and is different frem common primary"petric fuIIness".
