Studying the Relationship Between Damp-heat Syndromeand its Related Indexes with Non-Insulin DependentDiabetes MellitusMajor:Internal Medicine of TCMPostgraduate:Lin ZhengAdvisor:Prof Yan GuizhenABSTRACTObjective:To study the relationship between the damp-heat syndrome of II type diabetes mellitus(DM) -and the related indexes of weight, plasma glucose, islets of pancreas secretion function and hemorheology.Methods:In the patients of DM with confirmed diagnosis by WHO standard and identification standard in TCM, 61 cases were selected as an experimental group. Among them, 36 cases belonged to the damp-heat syndrome and 25 cases to the dry-heat with yin-deficiency syndrome. 10 normal people were selected as control group. Body weight index, fasting plasma glucose(FPG). glycosylated hemoglobin(GHB), fasting plasma insulin(Ins), C-peptide(C-p), pancreatic glucagons(GC) and hemorheology index were determined respectively, and the insulin sensitivity index(ISI)was calculated. The results were compared.Results:1) The above indexes showed an apparent difference between the experimental group and the normal group. 2) The body weight index, Ins and related index and hemorheology index showed more of an apparent difference in the damp-heat syndrome than those in the dry-heat with yin-deficiency syndrome.Conclusion:The index of islets of pancreas secretion function and insulin resistance was more closely related to the damp-heat syndrome than to the dry-heat with yin-deficiency syndrome in DM.. Blood stasis also occured more seriously in the damp-heat syndrome. Some evidence provided in this paper to essential study of damp-heat syndrome in DM would be important to the clinic diagnosis and treatment.
