Objective: To study the altered expression of tumour-suppressor gene p^ apoptosis-suppressor gene Bcl-2> oncogene C-erbB-2 -, proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) and infections of HPV in human salivary gland tumors related to the biopathology and clinical significance. It will provide scientific basis for effective prevention and cure of salivary gland malignant tumors. Methods: Expression of p!6^ Bcl~2> C-erbB-2N PCNA and infections of HPV in salivary gland malignant tumors(37), Pleomorphic adenomas (31) and non-tumor tissues (20) were detected by immunohistochemistry (LSAB) and PCR , The results were analyzed by Image Analysis System .Results: There is no such figure that has the significance of salivary tissues between Uygur and Han . The positive rate of HPV was 27. 0% in salivary gland malignant tumor, the positive rate of HPV was 9. 7% in pleomorphic adenomas, but non-tumor tissues the positive rate of HPV of thenon-tumon was not found. The different percentage among them showed a statistic significance (P<0. 05). The positive frequency of p!6^ Bcl-2N C-erbB-2 and PCNA in pleomorphic adenomas was much lower than that in salivary gland malignant tumor .However, only C-erbB-2 expression showed a statistic significance (P<0. 05) .No associationof the expression of P16^ OerbB-2> Bcl-2 ^ PCNA and infection of HPV among them either in malignant was found (?>Q. 05) .Conclusions: (1) OerbB-2 overexpression may involve a malignant transformation of benign lesions of human salivary gland. (2)Immunohistochemical examination of tumour-suppressor gene p!6^ apoptosis-suppressor gone Bcl-2^ oncogene C-erbB-2 ^ proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) could be used for moecular evaluation of benign and malignant tumors. The detection of which may offer more molecular index for the early diagnosis, clinical therapy of salivary malignant and benign tumors. (3) The results suggested that HPV 16> 18 infections were related to salivary gland tumor. (4) Expression of genes and infections of HPV showed that there is no exact difference between Uygur and Han ,which has no important significance in the development of salivary gland tumor .
