Objective To investigate the feasibility, efficacy and safety of cutting balloon angioplasty (CBA) for treatment of in-stent restenosis of coronary artery disease. Methods Fourteen patients with in-stent restenosis of coronary artery disease were included in this study. 11 were males and 3 were females with a mean age 62.9 ?.8 (52~78) years. Twelve patients were hypertension, six diabetes mellitus, eight lipids disorder. CBA procedures were performed on sixteen lesions in fourteen patients, including ten lesions in left anterior descending artery, three lesions in circumflexus and three lesions in right coronary artery. The diameter of cutting balloon is half size (0.25mm) larger than the previous stents size with the length of 10mm. Severe stenosis underwent prediliation with small conventional balloon (2.0mm diameter). Results Angioplasty were performed successfully in all lesions without any major vessel complications. The mean residual diameter stenosis rate was 10.6+4.2%. Conclusion CBA is a safe and effective method for the treatment of coronary artery instent retenosis lesion. However, the long-term results need further large scale prospect follow-up study to confirm.
