Ace Gene Polymorphism Relation To Essential Hypertension And Left Ventricular Hypertrophy

Objective To explore the relationship of the insertion/deletion(I/D) polymorphism of ACE gene with essential hypertension(EH) and left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) in Chinese people,to make sure the role that ACE gene polymorphism plays in the occurrence of EH and LVH.Methods PCR was performed to check the ACE genotype in people including 146 hypertensives ( HT) and 108 normotensive ( NT) controls, meanwhile height, body weight,blood pressure, blood lipid, angiotensin converting enzyme ( ACE) , renin, angio-tensin n (ATE ) and aldosterone(ALD) were measured. In hypertensive group,the histories of HT were recorded and echocardiography was performed to calculate the left ventricular mass index. Then statistical synthesis was done.Results The frequencies of ACE genotypes DD,ID, and II were 17%,37%,46% in control group respectively and 21%, 39%, 40% in hypertensive group respectively (P>0. 05). The ACE gene polymorphism in the control group was not significantly different from the hypertensive group. The frequencies of ACE genotypes DD,ID and II were 29%,39%, 32% in HT with LVH(P<0. 05). The frequency of DD genotype in hypertensives with LVH was higher than that in hypertensives without LVH.The ACE concentrations in serum of ACE genotypes DD,ID and II were 44. 11 + 12. 60u, 26. 97 + 10. 69u,16. 72+11. 09u respectively in hypertensive patients(P<0. 01) ,But the AT n and ALD concentrations in serum were not significantly different from each other among the three genotypes.Conclusion The ACE genotypes did not have relationship with the occurrence of EH,Yet had relationship with the occurrence of LVH in EH0 Hypertensive patients with DD genotype were easier to develop into LVH. These could provide a theoretical basis to uphold the clinical exercise that using ACEI in early stage could reduce the occurrence of LVH in EH.
