Backgronnd:Heart is the directly effected orange in hypertension.Hypertension is the most usually cause that lead to left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH) Hypertension with LVH occupy in high rates that cause to cardiac arrhythmia,cardiomyopathy ischemic,cardiac insufficiency and sudden death.Reduce LVH has became one of aims in treatment on essential hypertension.Irbesartan is a new angiotensinâ…¡receptor blocker used in clinical.It used to cure hypertension mostly.Some clinical experments have proved that angiotensinâ…¡receptor blocker has reduced LVH significantly.The experiment used color echocardiography to evaluate efficacy of irbesatan on reduced LVH that take irbesatan for 6 months.Method:The experiment take selfcomparion.Forty-seven patients with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy stopped to taking all the medicines three days before.The average value is basic blood pressure.The subjects were given irbesartan 150mg once a day and been measured blood pressure three times every week.If the subjects' pressure blood didn't drop to normal,irbesartan been taken 300mg once a day two weeks later.The subjects took hydrochlothiazide or other drug at same time whose blood pressure didnt drop to normal four weeks later.All the patients continuously took medicines for half a year.Left ventricular diastolic diameter(LVDd),interventricular septal diameter(â…£Sd),left ventricular posterior wall diameter(LVPWd) and left ventricular mass index(LVWI) were measured before and after taking the medicine.Forty-seven patients were detected blood-sugar, blood-lipid,blood and urine rule test,liver and kidney function before and after treatment.Through statistics analyzing to observed the change of index before and after treatment.Result:1.After six months treatment,the total patient's systolic pressure(SBP) and diastolic pressure(DBP) drop to normal.And fifty patients need to take hydrochlothiazide.2.After treatment,patient's IVSd,LVPWd,LVDd and LVWI was unsignificantly lower than before treatment.3.Blood-sugar,blood-lipid,blood and urine rule test,liver and kidney function have no obvious changes after treatment.Conclusion 1.Patient with essential hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy took irbesartan 0.15-0.3g orally once a day that unsignificantly reduce left ventricular hypertrophy.2.Irbesartan can stablly and effectively lower blood pressure.It's side effects are modest so that it fit for been taken long-lasting.
