Objective To study the levels of plasma thrombomodulin(TM), protein C(PC) antigen and D-dimer(D-D) before and after treatment in acute leukemia and solid tumor patients, and to explore their significance in the development, curative effect and prognosis of leukemias and solid tumors. Methods Twenty-two leukemia and forty-one solid tumor patients were selected into the study, the levels of plasma thrombomodulin, protein C antigen and D-D were measured by ELISA.Results Compared with normal control group, plasma levels of TM and D-D were elevated and plasma PC antigen levels were reduced before treatment in acute leukemia patients (r=3. 509 - 6. 077,P<0. 01). After complete remission, plasma levels of TM and PC antigen returned to normal range except for D-D compared with normal control group(r=3. 509,P<0. 01). Plasma levels of TM and D-D were elevated and plasma PC antigen levels were reduced before operation in solid tumor patients compared with normal control group(f=2. 586 - 9. 000,P<0. 05). Seven days after operation, plasma levels of TM decreased to normal range, but plasma levels of D-D increased and plasma levels of PC decreased further. There were differences between the three guoupsC I , TJ , ffl )of hepatocarcinoma, plasma levels of TM and D-D increasing and PC decreasing with upgrading of the stage. But there was no difference between these three markers after treatment. Conclusion Activation of coagulation and fibrinolysis existed in patients with malignant tumors as well as injury of vascular endothelium.and were greatly improved with amelioration of the disease. The plasma levels of TM,PC antigen and D-D can be used as one of the indicators of the development, curative effect and prognosis of malignant tumors.
