Clinical And Experimental Study Of The Effects Of Zhuhuang Granule No. â…¡ On Psoriasis Related Stress

Objective: Zhuhuang granule NO. II has the effects of QingReJieDu, ShuGanJieYu, YiQi Yang Yin, RouGanXiFeng. This study investigated its effective mechanism based on the viewpoint of modern medicine mode. Methods: 64 cases who were active psoriasis vulgaris patients with obvious stress were selected. 34 cases of them were treated by Zhuhuang Granule No. II and 30 cases by Yinxieling. All patients were evaluated by the scores of DQOLS and PASI , and the levels of cortisone and NE in their plasma were tested by radio immune technique before and after treated. At the same time, 15 normal controls were also tested. To testify the effect of Zhuhuang granule No. II on stress response, the level of cortisone in plasma and the morphological change of skin mast cell of immobilize stress mice were examined.Results: Before treated, the patients' quality of life declined and the level of cortisone of patients were higher (P<0.01) while NE were lower(P<0.05) than normal controls. After treated, in either Zhuhuanggroup or Yinxieling group, the patients' quality of life and PASI were all improved markedly, but the improvement in Zhuhuang group was more remarkable than in Yinxieling groupCP<0.01). And in both groups, the level of plasma cortisone declined (P<0.01), NE was elevated (P<0.01) contrarily, but there were statistic differences between the two groups on the level of cotisone or NE(P<0.01). In stress mice, the level of cortisone in Zhuhung granule group was lower than in model group (P<0.05) and the count of active skin mast cell in Zhuhuang granule group was less than in model group (P<0.01). Conclusions: There are declining of qualify of life and abnormalneuroendocrine function in active psoriasis vulgaris patients. Zhuhuang Granule No. II can improve the patients' quality of life, regulate their neuroendocrine function and restrain the skin mast cell from releasing granules induced by psychologic stress. These are partially the effective mechanism of Zhuhuang granule No. II on treating psoriasis.
