The Clinical Study On The Therapeutic Action Of "Guluo" Decoction To Osteoarthritis Of Knee Joint

Objective: To investigate the therapeutic action of "GuLuo" decoction to osteoarthritis of knee joint.Method: Through the degree of pain in the knee joint, the quantification of clinical signs and episodes, the activity of SOD and the content of LPO in blood fluid between before and after treatment by biochemical method, which were the criteria of curative effect while the curative effects of two groups were observed clinically by contrast with the " GuLuo " and "Zhuangguguanjie" pill.Results: "GuLuo" had good analgesic effect, immunological enhancement and improved microcirculation, the symptoms and signs of patients, as well as the quality of work and lives contrasted with "Zhuangguguanjie"pill. Its fine rate was approximately 79.41 percent, which had remarkable difference (P<0.05) contrasted with the control group. In addtion, the contents of SOD and LPO in the blood fluid between before and after treatment were measured respectively contrasted with those of the normal. The contents of SOD (LPO) before treatment in two groups were separately 1692.37 ±45.69u/ghb (3.248±0.164nmol/ml), 1708.02 ± 5.712u/ghb (3.312 ±0.390nmol/ml), those of the normal were 2059.43 ±22.78u/ghb (2.441 ± 0.343nmol/ml).The datum of the two groups had remarkable difference (P<0.05) contrasted with those of the normal by statistical dealing. The contents of SOD (LPO) after treatment in two groups were separately 2034.57 ± 36.62u/ghb (2.461 ± 0.247nmol/ml), 1924.37±40.52u/ghb (2.779 ± 0.138nmol/ml). The datum of the two groups had remarkable difference (P<0.05) contrasted with those of them before treatment by statistical dealing. Our results suggested that oxygen free radicals were probablyinvolved in the degenerate mechanism of joint cartilage resulted from osteoarthritis of knee joint.Conclusion: "GuLuo" decoction had superior curative effect, good analgesic effect. It inhibited the release of flammatory media and accelerated the formation of microcirculation. Above all, It could make SOD activity increased significantly and LPO content decreased markedly which made degeneration of joint cartilage delay for the treatment of osteoarthritis of knee joint.
