| Objective For reducing complications such as operative bleeding, edema, and increasing the effect of liposuction, we designed a new method, laser-assisted liposuction, and did experiment to comprehend the prospect of laser-assisted liposuction. This experiment can evaluate the advantage and disadvantage of laser-assisted liposuction compared with conventional liposuction. Method Ten swines were divided into three groups. The two surgical groups of swines were accepted laser-assisted liposuction or conventional liposuction. In the Laser group we used a special cannula which YAG laser fiber was contained within and laser beams easily sheared off the fat drawn into the cannula and coagulated blood vessels. In the conventional group we only use negative pressur to perform liposuction. In control group we did not perform liposuction. We compared the two surgical groups in the following aspects: ecchymosi, edema, postoperative ultrasonic observation, lipocrit study, etc. Three groups of swine werecompared with each other in two aspects: hemoglobin studies and blood biochemical changes. Result There is a benefit of laser-assisted liposuction in the following aspects such as lipocrit, ecchymosi, edema and other post-operative complications that is hematom and seroma. The two aspects, that is ecchymosi and lipocrit study was statistically significant and hemoglobin change was not statistically significant between the two surgical groups. Laser-assisted liposuction did not lead to dysfunction of organs such as liver and kidney. Conclusion Laser-assisted liposuction can significantly decrease the blood lose, ecchymosis and edema compared with conventional liposuction, and it did not give rise to dysfunction of organs. We initiatively obtained some experience to avoid the skin necrosis without using the saline pump that described by Apfelberg in USA, to cool the cannula. But the YAG laser equipnent was cumbersome to use and we did not completely solve the problem, that is, how to control the temperature of cannula when we use laser. |
