Objective: (l)To analysis of hemodynamic changes during coronary artery bypass grafting without cardiopulmonary bypass.(2)To investigate the change of serum s-100 protein concentration in off-pump CABG ,and study its effects on neurologic system. Methods: 30 consecutive patients undergoing off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting in our hospital were measured. The mean age was (64+6.9 ) (range, 54-77 year-old). All people were operated with the left internal mammary artery(LIMA) anastmosed to the left anterior descending artery(LAD) and saphenous vein(SV) to the other target vessels as sequential procedure whenever more than two distal anastmoses were done. Blood samples were taken from jugular vein before induction of anesthesia, at completion of the last anastmoses , sternal closure and 24h, 48h postoperatively Serum S-100 protein was measured with a ELISA assay. In the meantime, the hemodynamic changes were monitored during operation. Results: (l)There was no people dead perioperatively. The serum concentration of S-100 protein remained stable in a low level. (2)There were no or little hemodynamic changes during the LAD anastomosis in off-pump CABG, while hemodynamics changed significantly during Cx and Diag anastomosis. Conclusion: Release of S-100 protein during coronary artery bypass graftingis significantly reduced by Off-Pump surgery, which indicates that OPCABG does less damage to the brain.
