Purpose and Methods: To evaluate the effect of LWDHW on Osteoarthritis and its mechanism. This study chosed 36 Japan rabbit. The animals were then randomly divided into three groups, they were, group A(control group): fed with normal forage each day; group B(experimental model group): fixed the left lower limbs in extension position and fed with normal forage each day;group C(experimental treating group): fed forage mixed with herb 2W after fixing the lower limbs in extension position. After 8W, the chondrocyte specimens were procured for light microscopic, transmission electron microscopic study. Immunohistochemical method and in situ end labling method were used to detect the apoptosis of chondrocytes in articular cartilage.Results and Analysis: 1. The result demonstrated LWDHW had action of preventing experimental rabbit knee OA,relieving or slowing the cartilage degeneration.2. LWDHW can significantly inhibite the apoptosis of chondrocytes in articular cartilage.3. LWDHW can inhibite the releasing of Cytochrome C from mitochondria during apoptosis, and inhibite the activation of the death protease caspase-3(CCP32)...
