Change Of Platelet Activity In Patients With Atrial Fibrillation Companied With Cerebral Infarction

To investigate the change of platelet activity in patient with atrial fibrillation companied with cerebral infarction and determine whether platelet is activiated in patients with atrial fibrillation companied with cerebral infarction, we measured the expression of p-selectin on platelet membrane and the level of platelet aggregation rate in patients with AF and with AFCI, then compared with control. Sixty subjects were involved in trial. There were 20 patients in atrial fibrillation group, 20 patients in atrial fibrillation companied with cerebral infarction group, 20 subjects without heart disease in control group. In conclusion, expression of p-selectin in AF group and AFCI are increased; on the other hand, the expression of p-selectin is higher in AFCI group than in AF group. Platelet aggregation rates in patients of AF and AFCI are increased significantly; there was more increase in AF and AFCI group than that in pure AF group. These results suggest that increase of platelet activity and platelet aggregation rate are relatedto occurrence of AFCI.
