Objective To investigate clinical significance and role of P27kip1 expression and HPV16/18 DNA by detection of them in human laryngeal tumors. Method By fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (FQ-PCR) and immunohistochemisty, we detected the expression of P27kip1 and HPV16/18 DNA in samples of 39 human laryngeal squamous cell carcinomas (LSCC) and 21 adult laryngeal papillomas.Result There is significant difference about expression of P27kip1 between laryngeal squamous cell carcinomas (LSCC) and adult laryngeal papillomas. The positive rate of HPV16/18 DNA in carcinoma group is 33.3%(13/39) and that in papillomas group is 21.05%(4/19). The difference is not significant. Conclusion The lower expression of P27kip1 is relative with prognosis of patients with laryngeal carcinomas. HPV16/18 DNA may be one of pathogenesises and affect the normal expression of P27kip1.
