Objection: To study the level of tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1) in serum from patients with hypertension, hypertensive nephrosclerosis and renal failure casued by hypertensive nephrosclerosis and investigate the important role of TIMP-1 in the development of hypertensive nephrosclerosis, thus provide theoretical basis for preventing and treating hypertensive nephrosclerosis.Method: Sixty patients were divided into three groups .the first group was hypertension, the second was hypertensive nephrosclerosis, the third was renal failure casued by hypertensive nephrosclerosis. The number of each group was 20 patients.There is a group of normal control. It had 20 patients too.Draw vein blood (5ml) respectively from each groups and make serum separation. The TIMP-1 levels of recipients were determined by enzyme - linked immunesarbent assay (ELISA) two - sides antibody sandwich .To investigate the content of the TIMP-1 in the individual groups . Data were expressed as the mean value sem and compared with individual groups using analysis of variance; a value of p<0.01 was required for statistical significance.Results: the contents of TIMP-1 in serum of hypertensive nephrosclerosis and renal failure casued by hypertensive nephrosclerosis are significientily higher than the normal central and hypertension. The content of TIMP-1 in serum of renal failure casued by hypertensive nephrosclerosis is significientily higher than hypertensive nephrosclerosis,but the comparison of minimal charge between hypertention and the normal control group makes no statistic sense.Conclusion: The content of TIMP-1 in serum of hypertensive nephrosclerosis is gradually increasing with the progreession of hypertensive nephrosclerosis.The result suggests that the content of TIMP-1 play an important role in the development of hypertensive nephrosclerosis through inhibiting the decompastion of ECM and bringing about accumulation of ECM . We may prevent hypertensive nephrosclerosis by manipulating activity or expression of TIMP-1 .
