Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) is the injury of spinal cord structure and function caused by several different kinds of elements which incur the change of kinesalgia , sensation and autonomic nerves function below the injury level. The patients suffered from SCI can not get any efficient treatment of medicine and surgery nowadays. Investigate and explore the treatment to reduce the spinal cord injury and restitute the spinal cord function has become an important subject in medicine field .Acupuncture ,as a traditional medicine treatment ,has gained better effect in clinic practices . But its mechanism still needs more investigations.In this paper we divided male Wistar rats into model control comparison group, electroacupuncture group, Dexamethasone group and sham operation group. Injury of T12 spinal cord was induced by modified Allen's method , the rats' restitution of kinesalgia and sensation function was valued by combine behavioral score (CBS) and the expression of c-fosmRNA and BDNFmRNA was observed by situ hybrization and image quantitative analysis. Results indicated that in model control group the CBS score decreased by itself, in electroacupuncture group and Dexamethasone group the CBS score has decreased significantly and in the 14th day the eletroacupuncture group did better, with significant difference as compared with the Dexamethasone group. During the 24 hour after injury, the expression of c-fosmRNA was restrained by electroacupuncture group and Dexamethasone group, but in 7 day, 14 day the expression was increased. Meanwhile eletroacupuncture group can up-regulate the expression of BDNFmRNA, withsignificant difference as compared with the Dexamethasone group in 7d, 14d. We find that the electroacupuncture can amend the function restitution of spinal cord, reduce the sedcondary injury and is beneficial to the regeneration of nerve cell.
