Objective: To discover anti-HBV components from Tibetan medicines. Methods: Terminalia bellirica(Gaertn. )Roxb, Phyllanthus emblica L. , Meconopsis quintuplinervia Regel, Aconitum naviculare (Bruhl. )Stapf and Androsace stenophylla (Petitm)Hand.-Mazz) were Tibetan medicines which Tibetans used for liver and gall diseases. Drid plant materials were ground and extracted with 95% ethanol. The 95% extracts were studied for its ability to inhibit the releasing of Hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg) and Hepatitis B e antigen(HBeAg) from HepG2. 2. 15, a drug screening model for anti-HBV. The petrol ether extracts?ethyl acetae extracts?n-butanol extracts and water extracts of the 95% extracts of Terminalia bellirica(Gaertn.) Roxb. We isolated the petrol ether extracts using silica gel column and got twenty-three components. Results: The 95% ethanol extracts of Terminalia bellirica. has anti-HBV activity. The TI to HBeAg is 2. 2, TI to HBeAg is 2. 9. The petrol ether extracts has better anti-HBV activity, the inhibition rate to HBeAg is 62. 2% and that to HBsAg is 54. 0% at 250?g/ml (no toxicity) . The No. 13 component has activity to inhibit the releasing of HBsAg from HepG2. 2. 15 and No. 19 has activity to inhibit the releasing of HBeAg.Conclusion: We find Terminalia bellirica. , a Tibetan medicine, has strong anti-HBV activity.
