Objective: This study was designed to further explore the value of YF-1XGYD device in clinical application and testify whether arterial stiffness index (ASI) is a good indicator of detecting arteriosclerosis.Method: ASI was measured with YF-1XGYD device in 248 treated hypertensive subjects in order to compare ASI with Risk Stratification, Pulse pressure and Framingham risk score.Intima-media thickness and plaque of carotid arteries, Flow mediated vasodilation and nitroglycerine- induced vasodilation of brachial artery were measured with high-resolution ultrasound in 87 hypertensive subjects.Results: (1)The ASI of simple hypertension group(177 patients) and complication group(71 patients) were 135.97±50.69 and 162.22±53.33, respectively. There was significant difference in two groups(p<0.01). (2) The ASI of low risk group, medium risk group, high risk group and very high risk group were 91.07±28.66,121.67±26.24,153.78±38.66 and 188.83±41.98, respectively.There were significant difference in every two groups(p<0.01). (3) The ASI of PP≤40mmHg group,40~60mmHg group and ≥60mmHg group were 102.27±27.04,120.54±45.07 and 159.47±48.90, respectively.The ASI of PP≥60 mmHg group was significantly higher than those of another two groups (p<0.01). (4) According to Framingham risk score, 177 hypertensive patients without complications were divided into low risk group,medium risk group and high risk group.The ASI of three groups were 120.49±45.50,134.33±34.29 and 171.48±58.92,respectively. The ASI of high-risk group was significantly higher than those of another two groups (p<0.01). (5)There was a positive correlation between ASI and IMT(r=0.395,p<0.01).The IMT of ASI normal group(0~70),light elevation group (71~120), medium elevation group(121~180)and high elevation group(﹥180) were 0.74±0.13,0.88±0.12,0.94±0.12 and 0.97±0.15, respectively.The IMT of light elevation group,medium elevation group and high elevation group were significantly higher than that of normal ASI group(p<0.01). (6) The ASI of plaque grade 0,1,2 and 3 groups were 120.07±57.66,124.10±48.34,158.59±49.82 and 204.67±47.01, respectively. The ASI of plaque grade 2 and 3 groups were significantly higher than that of plaque of grade 0 group (p<0.01).(7)There was a negative correlation between ASI and FMD(r=-0.340, p﹤0.01).The FMD of ASI normal group,light elevation group,medium elevation group and high elevation group were 11.93±6.04%,9.83±5.54%,8.02±4.74% and 5.92±3.39%, respectively. The FMD of ASI medium and high elevation groups were higher than that of ASI normal group (p<0.05).Conclusions: There is a good correlation between ASI and predictors of cardiovascular diseases which has been demonstrated, This study suggests that YF-1XGYD device could be used as a tool of predicting cardiovascular risk with advantages of noninvasiveness, low cost and ease use.
