To investigate the relationship between P-glycoprotein expression and angiogenesis in human colorectal cancer.MethodsP-glycoprotein, Platelet activating factor and microvessel in 60 cases of colorectal cancer tissue and 12 cases of their paired normal tissue were checked using S-P immunohistochemical method.Rusults1. Significant higher level of P-gp expression was found in the tissues of colorectal cancer ( 65% , 39/60 ) , comparing to their paired normal tissues (25%,3/12,P<0.05).2. There was no close relationship between the level of P-gp expression and clinical factors, such as the degree of differentiation, the depth of infiltration, Dukes stage and gross appearance in colorectal cancer(P>0.05).3. There was no close relationship between the level of MVC and clinical factors, such as the degree of differentiation, the depth of infiltration, Dukes stage and gross appearance in colorectal cancer(P>0.05).4. The mean MVC in the P-gp( + ) group(149.9 +21.3) is Significantly more than the one in the P-gp( -) group( 106.8 + 19.5) (P <0.05).5. The expression of PAFR in human colorectal cancer: 1) A little microvessel endothelial cells were positive. 2) There were expression on the cellmembrane of human colorectal cancer. 3 ) Some mesenchymal cells were stained. 4) All above conditions in a case.Conclusion1. The positive rate of P-gp expression in human colorectal cancer was sig-nifantly higher than in normal colorectal tissues.2. The P-gp expression correlated positively to MVC in human colorectal cancer. It suggests that P-gp can promote the angiogenesis in human colorectal cancer.3. PAF could not promote the angiogenesis directly in human colorectal cancer.
