Objective:To study whether folIistatin(FS) is associated with pregnancy induced hypertension syndrome(PIH).Methods:FS level in maternal venous serum and in placenta collected from 30 PIH patients and 30 normal pregnancies was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay; The serum free E3 was determined by radio immunoassay.Results:(1)FS level in maternal serum in PIH group was significantly reduced compared with that in normal pregnancy group(P<0.001);and FS level in maternal serum was lower in severe PIH group than mild-moderate PIH group(P<0.01).(2)FS level in placenta was significantly lower in PIH group than normal pregnancy group(P<0.01).(3)FS level in maternal serum was significantly correlated with that in placenta in both PIH group(r=0.68,P<0.05) and normal pregnancy group (r=0.76,P<0.05). (4) Maternal serum free E3 was lower in PIH group than normal pregnancy group(P<0.05). (4) Maternal serum FS level showed a significant relation with free E3 in twogroups (r,=0.51,r2=0.67,P<0.05)Conclusions:(1)maternal serum FS level is closely associated with the degree of the seriousness of PIH;FS may play some role in the progression of PIH.(2)Maternal serum FS level is positively correlated with placenta function and can be used as a quota for the assessment of placenta function.Postgraduate Ji Xiang hong Directed by Prof Wang Peilin Prof Wang Xiuhai...
