Most of upper gastrointestinal diseases are chronic gastritis. The prevalence rate of peptic ulcer is lower than that of gastritis. The prevalence rate of upper digestive tract cancer is lowest in upper gastrointestinal diseases. The other diseases of upper digestive tract are rare. A patient with upper digestive problems may present a vast number of symptoms most of which are not specific. Thus, gastroscope is very important for the diagnosis of upper gastrointestinal disease. Now I investigate the situation of upper gastrointestinal diseases in Changchun and performance this analysis. The retrospective analysis is performed to 3000 cases with symptoms of upper gastrointestinal diseases and examined by OLYMPUS electron gastroscope in the digestive department of our hospital from June 2000 to June 2001. The observing contents include prevalence rate, age distribution, sex proportion, clinical characteristics and the feature of lesions seen at gastrocope of all kinds of upper gastrointestinal diseases. Patients with gastritis were more than those with peptic ulcer, and patients with peptic ulcer were more than those with cancer. The prevalence rate of chronic gastritis was 93.60%, which is the highest in this study. The prevalence rate of chronic shallow gastritis was 90.10%, which was highest in the age of 30~60. The prevalence rate of chronic shallow gastritis in male was almost the same with that in female as it was reported in our country. The prevalence rate of chronic atrophic gastritis was 3.50%, which increased with the age and was highest under the age of 60. The prevalence rate of chronic atrophic gastritis in male was lower than that in female, which was not the same with that had been reported. I think that it perhaps had something to do with circumstances. Patients with chronic gastritis always presented epigastric pain, flatulence, acid-reflux and belching, et al. 90% of chronic shallow gastritis located in the corpus and antrum. The main features of chronic shallow gastritis seen at gastrocope were vascular injection and edema and erosion was few. 85.71% of patients with chronic atrophic gastritis had the lesions in the antrum which was mucosal atrophy seen at gastrocope. All these were the same with that had been reported. Esophagitis is most common among esophageal diseases, which was diagnosed only by endoscope. The incidence of RE was 7%~22% in western countries. On the contrary the incidence of RE was 1.67%~5.77% in our country which was lower than that in western countries. Most of the lesions seen at endoscopy are vascular injection, edema, erosion, and ulceration. The serious lesion is the correlation of ulcerations. In this study the prevalence rate of esophagitis was 8.97%. The prevalence rate of RE was 1% which was approximate to that in our country. Most of patients with RE are male and aged. This difference suggests that different races have different incidence of RE. Chest pain is the most common presenting symptom of patients with RE in this study. There was no Barrett's esophagus in this study, which cause may be that few patients accept biopsy. Most of lesions of RE were located in the middle-lower part of esophagus. The second was in the lower part of esophagus, the third in all of esophagus. There were no lesions of RE that only located in the upper part of esophagus in this study. This may be related to the factors contributing to RE. The prevalence rate of duodenitis was 5.60% which was lower than that reported in other essays. The cause may be that all the patients with duodenitis were diagnosed by gastrocope in this study. The ratio of male to female was 4.5:1. Most of the patients with duodenitis were at the age of 30~50. Most of duodenitis occurred in the duodenal bulb as reported. Peptic ulcer is one of the common diseases that seriously hurt the healthy of human. Different countries had different incidence of peptic ulcer. The prevalence rate of peptic ulcer was 17.63%, male to female... | | Keywords/Search Tags: | gastrocope, upper gastrointestinal disease, gastritis, RE, duodenitis, peptic ulcer, upper digestive tract cancer, gastric carcinoma, esophageal carcinoma, duodenal carcinoma | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
