Objective: To study diagnostic value of DSA(digital subtract angiography) on small intestinal hemorrhage. Methods: This retrospective analysis includes 10 cases of small intestinal hemorrhage, which were admitted from May.2002~May.2004 to our hospital. After lesions in both alimentary canal above duodenum and below colon being excepted by using gastroscopy, rectoromanoscopy. We used enteroclysis,DSA and ECT to examine them.Selective angiography(superior mesenteric and inferior mesenteric arteries) were performed in 10 cases with small intestinal bleeding .Results: In combination with DSA and surgical information, it showed that in all of 19 positive patients in 23 patients examined with DSA , the lesions were located in small intestine in 10 cases. DSA displayed: there were one case of hemangioma ,5 cases of intestinal tumor ,4 cases of intestinal angiodysplasia. The main DSA feature included: local abnormal vessel clumps with draining veins, enlarged and tortuous vessels, abnormal hyperplasia and distubance of small vessels, enlarged and concentrated abnormal vessels, arteriovenous fistula and early opacified veins during arterial phase, extravasation of the contrast, markedly staining in local small intestinal walls. 9 cases were verified by operation and pathology. Conclusion: Selective angiography is very helpful for determining the location and the character of unknown reasoned acute or chronic gastrointestinal hemorrhage, especially for the hemorrhage of the small intestine.Selective angiography have important value on diagnosing small intestinal bleeding.
