[Objective] A retrospective analysis was carried out to evaluate the results of glioma treated by postoperative radiotherapy and explore the methods to grade the prognostic factors integratively and systematically.[Methods] 71 glioma patients were studied retrospectively. Of these,11 were Kemohan Class I, 35 were Class II and 25 were Class IH-IV. Fifty four patients received grossly total resection, 17 had subtotal resection. Traditional external-beam radiotherapy started within 1 week to 3 monthes after the surgery. Nine patients received chemotherapy. The results were analyzed with Kaplan-Meier curve end verified by Log-rank test. Clinical prognostic factors were selected by single variable aniilysis and graded. General points were achieved by cumulating totally and averaged into 3 raiks. The cumulative survival rates and influencing factors of these 3 ranks were analyzed and compared statistically. Cox regression was used to analyzed those single variables whose P<0.05.[Results] The 5- year local control rates and 5- year cumulative survival rates of 71 patients 34.8% and 31.1%. Age, KPS, preoperative clinical stage and histology were significant by statistic analysis (SPSS 10.0) while other factors such as sex, epilepsy, extend of resection, chemotherapy, interval between sugery and radiotherapy were not observed significantly. The 5- year local control rates and 5- year cumulative survival rates of patients with different integrated grades (General points 4-6 group, 7-9 group and 10-12 group) were 0.00%, 13.68%, 72.75 (P=0.0000); 0.00%, 10.35%, 71.34% (P=0.0000) respectively.[Conclusion] We conclude that integrated grades of clinical prognosis were helpful for analysising prognostic factors of astrocytoma more credibly and entirely.
