Objective:This study was to determine expression of IGF-1 in tumor tissues and serum IGF-1 , IGFBP-3 levels in glioma and meningioma patients,and to investigate both relationships .Meanwhile to discuss the exact roles of IGF-1 , IGFBP-3 in development of glioma and meningioma.So with the theory, we can detect early glioma and meningioma by determination's serum IGF-1 IGFBP-3 levels.Methods:Fist part:The experiment was divided into three groups (healthy control group , meningioma group and glioma group),each group including 30 cases.A 4ml blood sample from each fasting case was drawn in the early morning,and which was separated by centrifugation immediately and was stored under -20#.Serum IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 levels were determined by immunoradiometric assays (IRMA).Dates were expressed as means盨D,and analyzed by t and x2 test,and the significance level was P<0.05.Second part: The experiment was divided into three groups(healthy group, meningioma group and glioma group) same.To take tissue samples in the operation,and which were made in routine HE staining and IGF-1 immunohistochemicalThe Significance of Determination of Insulin-like Growth Factor-1, Insuiin-like Growth factor Binding Pro etn-.l m Ghoma and Meningioma Patients Abstractstaining.Staining results were watched with microscope. Date were analyzed by x 2 test,and the significance level was P<0.05).(3) Serum IGFBP-3 levels in glioma were significantly higher than those in healthy control cases(/><0.01),but there was no meaningful difference between difference malignant gliorna.(4)Serum IGFBP-3 levels in meningioma were significantly higher than those in healthy control cases(P<0.05).(5) Serum IGF-1 levels correlated significantly with serum IGFBP-3 levels in three groups (r=0.594> 0.474^ 0.375, P<0.05) .Second part:(l) Less expressions of IGF-1 were detected in normal brain tissues,but expressions of IGF-1 in glioma were obv ously increased (P <0.05 ) . expressions of IGF-1 in high malignant glioma were more increased than those in low malignant glioma.(2) expression;? of IGF-1 in meningioma were also obviously increased (P <0.05) .Conclusion:(l)IGF-l improved the devolepment of glioma and meningioma.(2) Increased serum IGF-1 levels correlated with increased glioma's risk(OR ,6.88;95 % confidence interval,0.53 ~ 7.01).There was meaningful clinical value in determination's serum IGF-1 levels serving asThe Significance of Determination of Insulin-like Growth Factor-1, Insulin-like Growth Factor Binding Pro ein-3 in Glioma and Meningioma Patients Abstractearly indicators of glioma.(3)Serum IGF-1 level were probably increased in meningioma patients,which still waited further investigation.(4) Serum IGFBP-3 level were probably increased in glioma and meningioma patients. IGFBP-3 probably co-operated with IGF-1 tc improved the devolepment of glioma and meningioma, which still waited futher investigation's) Increased serum IGF-1 levels significantly correlated v/ith serum IGFBP-3 in control cases,which suggested there existed some negative feedback mechanism to regulate both serum levels in healthy physiological status.
