[Objective] To detect the relationship between the contents of hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA, anti-HCV and the level of ALT in Yanbian Area.[Methods] Serum of HCV RNA was detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) quantitatively and the level of ALT and anti-HCV was simultaneously assayed. All of the anti-HCV positive cases were divided into two groups: group A (n=300, no blood transfusion) , group B(n=100, blood transfusion) . The results of ALT were divided into two groups; ALT-I (normal) andALT-II (abnormal) .[Results] In group A, the ratio of Korean was 77. 33% and Chinese was 22. 67%, and the ratio of HCV-RNA positive in Korean was 47. 84% and in Chinese was 41. 18% (P>0. 05). In ALT-I group, the most contents of HCV-RNA were 103-4, in Korean was 43. 14% and in Chinese was 66. 67%. In group ALT-II ,the most contents of HCV-RNA were 105-6(P<0. 05), in Korean was 56. 67% and in Chinese was 75. 0%.In group B, the ratio of Korean was 80.00%, and HCV-RNA positive was 51. 25%, the ratio of Chinese was 20.0%, and the HCV-RNA positive was 70. 0%; the most contents of HCV-RNA was 105-6 in In ALT-I and II groups (P<0. 05).[Coclusions] In all of the anti-HCV positive cases, the Korean was more than Chinese, but the ratio of HCV positive was no significantly difference in two different nationality in A and B groups. The contents of HCV-RNA was higher in group B than group A. The contents of HCV-RNA was associated with the level of ALT.
