Objective: To study relation between protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B(PTP-1B) with type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome(MS). Method: To assay fasting blood glucose, fasting blood insulin and so on in 16 control subjects and new patients with type 2 diabetes who can be divided into groups as follow: control group(C), thin patients with diabetes(CDM) and obese patients with diabetes(ODM) according to diagnosis standard of type 2 diabetes and obesity; or patients with diabetes(DM) and patients with MS(MS) that can be divied into MS 3 (involving 3 risk factors of MS) and MS 4(involving 4 risk factors of MS) according to diagnosis standard of type 2 daibetes and MS. Western blot is used to assay expression of PTP-1B in their adipose tissue. Result Insulin resistance exists in CDM and ODM. Expression of PTP-1B of CDM is nearly 3 times than C's and that of ODM is nearly 4 times than CDM's. Expression of PTP-1B is much higher in MS than in DM. Among MS patients, the more MS risk factors patients have, the higher expression of PTP-1B is. Conclusion Overexpression of PTP-1B has close relation with episode of type 2 diabetes and MS.
