Objective To evaluate the ability of Multi-slice spiral CT (MSCT) on display of coronary artery and the feasibility of MSCT in diagnosis of coronary stenosis. Methods 52 patients, including 49 patients with suspected coronary heart disease and 3 patients who had undergone percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA), underwent MSCT coronary angiography. All patients' heart rates were controlled under 75bpm, and 28 of them were also investigated with selective coronary angiography (SCA). CT data were acquired with retrospective ECG gating and reconstructed by means of volume rending (VR), curved planar reformation (CPR), maximum intensive projection (MIP) and virtual endoscopy (VE) techniques. CT images of coronary artery were analyzed, and compared study was made between MSCT and SCA. Results With MSCT angiography, 82% coronary segments were assessable. The sensitivity for diagnosing significant coronary stenosis (≥50% lumen reduction) was 70.97%, the specificity was 98.75%. The negative predictive value was 96.34%. Conclusion MSCT coronary angiography, non-invasive,convenient and reliable, is a potential method for screening coronary artery disease and following-up post-operative PTCA, especially in patients with low heart rates.
