Brachytherapy For The Prostate Carcinoma

I125 Seed Permanent Implanting for the Treatment of the Prostate CancerProstate cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed and is the second leading cause of cancer death in American man.In our country the incidence of prostate cancer rise in recent years.There are three types of treatment,such as radical prostatectomy,external beam therapy,and brachytherapy. Because the brachytherapy has less complication and fatalnesss than the others ,it will become the main treatment.Objective To assess the effectiveness of 125I Brqachytherapy in the prostate cancer Methods From 2001/7 to 2002/6,26patients with prostate cancer diagnosed by pathologic examination,were treated with 125I seed implants under ultrasound guidance. Results It was no side effects on liver or kidney function damage.Seven cases had a slight increase in urinary frequency,urgency,and nocturia with 1 month after treatment.IPSS and volume of prostate increased but not significant at 1 month after treatment(ρ>0.5).One case occurred dysuria at 3 days after therapy when removed the catheter.PSA decreased significantly at 1,3,6 months after therapy.Conclusion 1,125I Seed Permanent Implanting(Brachytherapy) for the　Treatment of Prostate Cancer was effective and feasible in short period,.because of it little complication ,it has great clinical prospect.2,Monitoring PSA is significance for evaluating the therapeutic efficacy of prostate carcinoma. 3,There are many reason of the therapeutic effect and the base line is disunity.4,This case is impossible to evaluate the sexual function .
