Objective: To find whether the visual field changes are different between primary open angle glaucoma(POAG) with high myopia and POAG without it.Methods: The static central visual fields were tested by Humphrey 750 automated perimeter in 89 cases(126 eyes) of POAG with high myopia and 86 cases(118 eyes) of POAG with low or middle myopia, and 79cases(113 eyes) of POAG without myopia. The characteristic of visual field among these three group of cases were compaired in total deviation probability maps and pattern deviation probability maps with each other. The visual field defect pattern, the correlation among the visual field defect, physiologic blind spot and central fixation spot, as well as the changes in visual field defect indices and the distributing of the early visual field defect and the frequency of central scotomata were analyzed and compared. Results: The general reduction of sensitivity of POAG with high myopia in total deviation probability map was more than that of POAG without high myopia ,and the difference has significant difference. The visual field defect patterns of POAG with high myopia were similar to that of POAG without high myopia, and the difference has no significant difference. The visual field defect area of early POAG with high myopia was located in temporal field and was more than that of POAG without high myopia, and the difference has significant difference. More central scotomata were found in POAG with high myopia than in others, and the difference had significant difference. The visual field defect in most of earlyPOAG with high myopia was linked with central fixation spot and physiologic blind.Concerning this, there was significant difference among 3 groups. The mean defect (MD) and pattern standard deviation (PSD) was increasing with diopter increases. Conclusion: The visual field defect in early POAG with high myopia was the general reduction of sensitivity .The visual field defect in early POAG with high myopia mostly appears in temporay field and linked with physiologic blind spot and central fixation spot. The high myopia group have more central scotomata than that of other groups, and the visual field defect aggravates with myopia increasing.
