Objective: To research the variation and their relationship among RBC-CR1, RBC-CD58 and T lymphocyte subsets in patients with benign and malignant gastric ulcer and to provide a basis for prevention and immune therapy. Methods: Flow cytometry method, immune adherence rosette method and SAP assay were used to measure the quantities of RBC-CR1 and RBC-CD58, the activity of RBC-CR1 (the value of RBC-C3bRR, RBC-ICR and RBC-TRR ) and the changes of T lymphocyte subsets (the percentage of CD3+, CD4+, CD8+ and the CD4+/CD8+ ratio) in 38 patients with the benign gastric ulcer, in 35 patients with the malignant gastric ulcer and in 32 normal people as the control group. Results: The value of RBC-CR1, RBC-CD58, RBC-C3bRR and RBC-TRR remarkably declined and the value of RBC-ICR was obviously increased in the benign and malignant gastric ulcer group than in the control group (P<0.05). There were significant difference between the benign gastric ulcer group and the malignant gastric ulcer group (P<0.05). The percentage of CD3+, CD4+ and the CD4+/CD8+ ratio were the lowest in the malignant gastric ulcer group, which were secondary in the benign gastric ulcer group and the highest in the control group. There were obviously difference among three groups (P<0.01). The percentage of CD8+ was remarkably increased in the benign and malignant gastric ulcer group than in the control group (PO.01). However, there was not significant difference between the benign gastric ulcer group and the malignant gastric ulcer group (P>0.05). The value of RBC-C3bRR, RBC-TRR and RBC-CD58 were remarkably relative positively to the CD4+/CD8+ ratio in the benign and malignant gastric ulcer group (P<0.05: RBC-C3bRR, RBC-TRR; P<0.01: RBC-CD58). The activity and quantities of RBC-CR1, the quantities of RBC-CR1 and RBC-CD58 were all declined at the same time and they were significantly relative positively to each other (PConclusions: The activity and quantities of RBC-CR1, the quantities of RBC-CD58 and T lymphocyte subsets changed significantly in patients with benign and malignant gastric ulcer. Erythrocyte immune function and T lymphocyte subsets obviously declined in the benign and malignant gastric ulcer group than in the control group. Erythrocyte immune function and T lymphocyte subsets declined more significantly in the malignant gastric ulcer group than in the benign gastric ulcer group. There were notably correlation between erythrocyte immune function and T lymphocyte subsets. Erythrocyte immunityand T lymphocyte subsets may play an important role in the occurrence and development of the benign and malignant gastric ulcer. Erythrocyte immunity may regulate the activity of some immune cells including T lymphocyte subsets by CD58. Erythrocyte immunity and T lymphocyte subsets may have immune prevention functions in patients with benign and malignant gastric ulcer.
