Objective To assess the effect of prognostic factors in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) . Methods Clinical data of 97 cases of RCC were reviewed retrospectively. Their survival rates were calculated by Kaplan-Meier method and Cox's multivariate proportional hazard model . Significant prognostic factors in renal cell carcinoma were evaluated by those methods. Results The most important prognostic factors in RCC were TNM stage and thrombocytosis. The effect of the factors in TNM stage were M,N,T in turn, and the effect of the factors in T stage were tumor size, venous tumor thrombuin, margin of tumour invasion in turn. Conclusions TNM stage were the most significant prognostic factors in RCC. Thrombocytosis had significant prognostic value in RCC.
