| In this study 558 cases pleural effusion's pathogeny and diagnostic methods were analyzed between 1991 to 2002 The results showed that :Tuberculosis acounted for 95% pleaural effusion under 40 years old patiant ,60% between 40 to 59 years old end 57% above 60 years old patient .The ratio between tuberculosis and tumor was 2 to 1 from 1997 to 2002 and 1 against 1 from 1991 to 1996 ,The difference is significant .The tumor cases were on the rise in the late six years under 40 years patients .The pleural effusion in tumor and tuberculosis is not all exudant .ADA and CEA was wighly valued ,60 cases were unknown about the pathogeny ,Pleural biopsy and pleuroscopy can be wsed to help diagnosis ,It was susgested that developing new item ,for example ,telomerase and INF -γ was necessary.
