Therefore we chose some proliferative or neoplastic cutaneous lesions including psoriasis vulgaris, seborrheic keratosis, solar keratosis, basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma . We detect the expression of Survivin in epidermis of these lesions. Methods: Seventy-four paraffin embedded lesions are collected for diagnostic histopathology from the files of Dermatologic clinic , the second affiliated hospital of DaLian Medical University. Specimens include 12 psoriasis vulgaris , 30 seborrheic keratosis, 5 solar keratosis, 17 basal cell carcinoma , and 10 squamous cell carcinoma . specimens of breast carcinoma are used as positive control . 74 specimens are detected for Survivin by immunohistochemical ABC method . Results: In normal skin, Survivin immuoreactivity wasn't almost observed. Epithelial cells of the adnexa( follicule, sebaceous and sweat glands) were stained.. Survivin was found to be expressed in 12 psoriasis vulgaris. There are brown-yellow cytoplasmic granules observed in the cells, mainly stained in immuoreactivity.Staining was more enhanced in stratum basale than stratum spinosum in 8/12 specimen. There is no difference in another 4 spicimens. Dermal vascular endothelium was stained positive by Survivin . Seborrheic keratosis: â‘ acanthotie type:Survivin immuoreactivity was observed in 7/10 specimens and stained weakly or moderately in stratum basale and stratum spinosum. â‘¡hyperkeratotic type:Survivin immuoreactivity was observed in 5/10 specimens and stained weakly or moderately in all layers. And there is enhanced staining in basaloid cells. â‘¢adenoid type:Survivin immuoreactivity was observed in 5 specimens and stained weakly or moderately in epidermal all layers. â‘£irritated type:there is no Survivin immunoreativity observed in 4 specimens. Only one is weakly stained. Survivin immunoreactivity was observed and stained weakly or moderatedly in 4/5 specimens of solar keratosis. Survivin immunoreactivity was undetectable in basal cell carcinoma. Survivin was moderatedly or markedly expressed in 10 squamous cell carcinoma. Especially staining is enhanced in the infiltrate part of tumor and cells in nucleus mitosis stage. Vascular endothelium is also stained by Survivin. Conclusion: Survivin expression is observed in psoriasis vulgaris, seborrheic keratosis (acanthotie type, hyperkeratotic type and adenoid type),solar keratosis and squamous cell carcinoma. Survivin immunoreactivity is also observed in the vascular endothelium of psoriasis vulgaris and squamous cell carcinoma. It is suggested that Survivin, as an anti-apoptosis protein perhaps involves the origination and development of these diseases. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | psoriasis vulgaris, seborrheic keratosis, solar keratosis, basal cell carcinoma, cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma, Survivin | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
