| Objects: To study the expression of Fas/FasL system and apoptosis in spinal cord tissue of rat after acute spinal cord injury (ASCI). Observe the influence of Tongdu Jianbu tablet to the expression. Discuss the mechanism of ASCI and provide some experimental basis for treating ASCI by the traditional Chinese medicine.Methods: 70 healthy adult SD rats were divided randomly into 5 groups: Traditional Chinese medicine group, dexameth group, model control group, pseudooperation group, normal control group. The method to make animal model was Allen's method. Evaluated the neural function recovery of the injured rats by using BBB scoring system. Detected the expression of Fas/FasL system and apoptosis in spinal cord tissue of rat after ASCI.Results:1. Tongdu Jianbu tablet and dexameth also can improve neural function of the rats after ASCI. Tongdu Jianbu tablet was more effective.2. There were positive expression of Fas/FasL and apoptosis in spinal cord tissue of rats after ASCI.3. Tongdu Jianbu tablet and dexameth also can down regulate theexpression of Fas/FasL and apoptosis. Tongdu Jianbu tablet was more effective.4. The expression of Fas/FasL could be observed as early as 2h after ASCI and reach to the maximum at 24h after ASCI. The apoptosis could be observed as early as 8h after ASCI and reach to the maximum at 24h after ASCI.Concludes:1. Tongdu Jianbu tablet and dexameth can both improve neural function of the rats after ASCI. Tongdu Jianbu tablet was more effective.2. There were positive expression of Fas/FasL and apoptosis in spinal cord tissue of rats after ASCI.3. Tongdu Jianbu tablet and dexameth also can down regulate the expression of Fas/FasL and apoptosis.
