MPTP model is commonly used in researching Parkinson's disease. MPP+-he active form of MPTP is directly used in vitro model, which could induce cell to apoptosis. MPP+ inhibits the production of ATP, and it also could produce ROS, then leads proteins' oxidation. MPP+ also might activate apoptosis signal transduction pathways involved in Parkinson's disease.Catalpol is one kinds of iridoids, and its protective effect has not been widely investigated. We first make in vitro apoptotic model by using MPP+ in PC12 cells, and then investigate the effect of catalpol on this kind of apoptosis. Our results shows that MPP+ could deduce cell viability and induce cell to apoptosis, increasing the expression of Akt; Catalpol may enhance cell viability, protect the apoptosis, and decrease the expression of Akt when incubated with MPP+together.
