Bronchial asthma is a common disease of respiratory system in children. The pathological basis of asthma is chronic airway inflammation. Many cells, cytokines and inflammatory media participate in this inflammatory reaction. The recurrence of bronchial asthma will cause airway epithelial damage and lead to irreversible airway constriction. It will trouble the life of the child patients and affect their growth and physical and mental health. Therefore, it keeps a focus for pediatric disease research to prevent and cure childhood asthma. Glucocorticoid has been the most effective drug to treat asthma so far. With the spread and popularization of hormone inhalation therapy, the pulmonary functions and quality of life of child asthma patients have been improved. However, the overall incidence rate and mortality rate have not reduced yet. In addition, some patients' asthma symptomsmaintain out of control even they have inhaled large-amount glucocorticoid.Superconducting therapy through acupuncture points of traditional Chinese medicine is a new technology as an adjuvant therapy for asthma. It integrates the compress therapy in traditional Chinese medicine and superconducting technology. It has been reported it has a good curative effect in clinic. However, there lack medical evidence basis and theoretical support from modern medicine for its working mechanism.Purpose: In order to make clear of the curative effect of superconducting therapy through acupuncture points of traditional Chinese medicine as an adjuvant therapy for child asthma, discussion on its working mechanism from the point of molecule are made. Methods: Randomly divide 60 child patients in the mild to moderate stage of asthma attack. Use double-blind comparison method for the study. The basic treatment for the two groups is the same, i.e., inhaling β-kinetin; inhaling and orally taking glucocorticoid; and orally taking theocin. The treatment group consisting of 30 patients receives superconducting therapy throughacupuncture points of traditional Chinese medicine in addition to the basic treatment; the comparison group consisting of 30 patients receives placebo compress in the superconducing therapy. Seven days serve a course of treatment. Grade the asthma symptoms and measure pulmonary functions (peak exhalation force) everyday, and measure the cytokines IL-10 and IFN-γ before and after the treatment.Results:1. Improvement of asthma symptoms1.1 Grading the improvement of asthma symptoms in daytime: There is no statistical difference between the treatment group andthe comparison group in the number of cases graded as 0, 1,2 and 3. On the fourth day of the treatment, the numbers of cases of improvement in the treatment group are 0, 22, 7 and 0 respectively while the figures in the comparison group are 0, 14, 16 and 0. Compare the two groups, we can find the difference is significant (P>0.05). By the eighth day of the treatment, the figures of the treatment group had reached 20, 7, 0, and 0 while comparison group 18, 7, 3, and 0. The difference is not significant between the two groups (P>0.05).1.2 Improvement of asthma symptoms at night:There is no statistical difference between the treatment group and the comparison group in the number of cases graded as 0, 1,2, 3 and 4. On the fourth day of the treatment, the numbers of cases of improvement in the treatment group are 0, 19, 7, 3 and 0 respectively while the figures in the comparison group are 1, 8, 16, 5 and 0. Compare the two groups, we can find the difference is significant (P<0.05). By the eighth day of the treatment, the figures of the treatment group have reached 22, 2, 3, 0 and 0 while comparison group 21, 3, 3, 1 and 0. The difference is not significant between the two groups (P>0.05).2. Improvement of pulmonary functionsThe PEF (peak exhalation force) percentage ( % ) of the estimated value of the child patients of the treatment group on the first day, on the fourth day and eighth day are (76.96±4.89), (83.19 ± 7. 39), and (89.56±7. 80) while the comparison group (76.61 ± 4. 51), (79.57 ± 7.
