Objective: Study the interrelation between different syndrome patterns of Traditional Chinese Medicine in male sterility sufferers and seminal plasma neutral α -glucosidase measured value. Also to provide an objectivity reference lab index for syndrome pattern of TCM in male sterility sufferers.Method: We select 117 married male patients which comply to the study requirements. We divide these cases into five groups according to the standard of differentiation of symptoms and signs for classification of syndrome. These groups are: deficiency of kidney-YANG (23cases) ;deficiency of kidney-YIN (22cases) ;phlegmatic hygrosis (20cases) ;stagnation of liver-QI and blood stasis (24cases) ; damp invasion of lower energizer (28cases) .We carry on measuring seminal plasma neutral α —glucosidase and CASA in semen collected by the subjects. All data is treated with SPSS 11.0 software and the result is expressed with mean ± standard deviation (X ± S). Measurement data is treated with the t-test and the One—Way ANOVA test and enumeration data is treated with the chi-square test.Effect: There are 80.34% within the abnormity scope. The remaining 19.66 % is within normal scope about the measured value of seminal plasma neutral a —glucosidase out of 117male sterility sufferers The distribution of the basic syndrome pattern of TCM through One—Way ANOVA test has no statistical difference(p>0.05).Conclusion: Seminal plasma neutral α —glucosidase measured value can provide reliable evidence for diagnosing male sterility. However it can not be a micro index of differentiation of symptoms and signs for classification of syndrome.
