Objective:To study the compound Chinese medicine FuWai Suppository. Methods:The extraction process of Fuwai Suppository was studied in this paper. The prescription was categorized to two teams. Radix scutellariae teamrRadix scutellariae, Fructus cnidii, Radix stemonae, Spina gleditsiae, Polygonum lapathifolium L. var. salicifolium Sibth. .Camellia oleifera Abel;Radix Sophorue Flavescentis team:Radix Sophorue Flavescentis, Coptex Phellodendri,Phizoma Coptidis. The optimal alcohol extraction process was studied by orthogonal design with Matrine as index for Radix Sophorue Flavescenti team and with Bcicalin as index for Radix scutellariae team. Three levels were designed to review four factors in these two experiments including the solvent consumption, the solvent concentration, time of extraction and times of extraction. The result showed that the optimum extracting condition was 60% alcohol consumpted twelve times the amount of material and three times for sixty minutes each time for Radix scutellariae team, and , 75% alcohol consumpted ten times the amount of material and three times for two hours each time for Radix Sophorue Flavescentis team.Radix Sophorue Flavescentis, Radix scutellariae and Fructus cnidii in Fuwai suppository were identified by TLC with dots clear and reproducible. Radix Sophorue Flavescentis was identified with benzene-acetone-methanel (8 : 3 : 0.5 ) first then toluene-ethyl acetate-methanel-water(2:4:2:1) twice as developer and Bismuth potassium iodide solution as coloration using silica gel G made with 2% NaOH solution.
