Objective To compare the effect of different pattern materials on the cast accuracy of MOD inlay. Materials and methods Five different pattern materials were used: Pattern resin, inlay wax, base wax, Pattern resin + inlay wax, self-curing resin â‘  Patterns were fabricated using five different materials, the discrepancy at marginal regions were measured with a traveling microscope before casting. â‘¡After above five patterns were invested, burned and cast, gaps of casting at marginal site, lateral site were measured. Results â‘  Pattern resin demonstrated the smallest shrinkage before casting. There was significant difference with other groups (P<0.05). The greatest shrinkage was found in self-curing resin and base wax. There was significant difference with other groups (P<0.05). â‘¡ After casting, Pattern resin exhibited the best results at marginal and lateral regions There was significant difference with other groups(P<0.05). The greatest discrepancy appeared with self-curing resin and base wax. There was significant difference with other groups (P<0.05). The marginal gaps of the inlay are larger than that of the lateral (P<0.05). The marginal discrepancy is greater before casting than that of being casted (P<0.05). Conclusions â‘  Pattern resin exhibited smaller shrinkage than other pattern materials before (?)asting, â‘¡ The inlay fabricated by pattern resin was most accuracy.
