Objective To observe the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP2) andKi67 in human cervical squamous carcinoma after intra-arterial chemotherapy, to obtain the theoretical theory for the preoperation intra-arterial chemotherapy of uterine cervical carcinoma.Material and Methods Tissues were abtained from 30 cases of squamous cell cervical carcinoma and 20 cases of normal cervices. The cancer tissues were abtained from the patients before and after intervene. The expression and distribution of MMP2 and Ki67 proteins were detected by immunohistochemistry SP method using monoclonal antibody to their protein. Statistical analysis was performed by x2and coefficient of correlativity. Results MMP2 and Ki67 were positive in 25/30(83.33%) and 18/30(93.33%),13/30(43.33%)and 11/30(36.63%) of carcinomas before and after intre-arterial chemotherapy, in 2/20(10%) and 1/20(5%) of normal cervices respectively . there were significant differences for MMP2 and Ki67 between carcinomas before and after intervene and normal cervices respectively (p<0.01). Peritumoral positive stromal cells for MMP2 were observed in all cases. No significant correlation could be established between the expression of MMP2 and the clinical stage and pathologic grade. There were no significant correlation between the expression of Ki67 and the tumors diameters, but there were significant correlation in the clinical stage and the pathologic grade. Conclusion There was significant difference for MMP2 and Ki67 beween carcinomas before and after intervene and normal cervices respectively. The decline of MMP2 and Ki67 after intervene can predict the intra-arterial chemotherapy outcome.
