Hepatic veno-occlusive disease(VOD), referred to as sinusoidal obstuction syndrome, which was first used as a formal terms by Jellifffe in 1954. Since then, VOD had become a special disease and attached more attentions. There is a very high mortality in its severe form. So it is important to review the literature on VOD with an emphasis on pathogenesis, pathology, diagnosis and treatment. These are two cases of VOD that was accepted in gastroenterology department of our hospital between 2000 and 2002. We wish it be helpful to know better of the disease by having a report of the two cases.
