The Biological Characteristic Changes Of The Remnant Tumor Cells And The Effect On The Body After Microwave Ablation Treatment

To investigate the biological characteristic changes of the remnant tumor cells of H22 liver cancer after microwave ablation and evaluate the results of the microwave ablation on tumor. Methods: Microwave ablation was performed on the tumor partly, then Proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and Matrix metalloproteinase 9(MMP-9) were examined by immunohistochemistry analysis at varying periods. Compare the results in order to observe the biological characteristic changes, survival time and the rate of metastasis of the lung in the microwave ablation group and controlled group. Results: The positive expression of PCNA and MMP-9 were significantly decreased after 5 day in the microwave ablation treatment group than in the controlled group. The positive expression of PCNA , MMP-9 increased gradually after 10 days in the microwave ablation treatment group and increased a same level as the controlled after 15days. The survival period in the microwave ablation treatment group was prolonged by 57% and associated with lower rate of lung metastasis, compared with the controlled group. Conclusion: the proliferative activity and the invading capability of the remnant tumor cells in the microwave ablation treatment group are decreased significantly in a short period after microwave ablation treatment. The growth and metastasis capabilities of the remnant tumors are controlled relatively .The differentiation of the remnant tumors cells was improved after microwave ablation treatment. The microwave ablation treatment can prolong the survival of the patient, although can not eradicate the tumor cells completely. Because ,in a few days, the capacity of tumor cells' proliferative activity and metastasis will return to the old level ,those patients should received countercheck in a week or another microwave ablation treatment in ten days.
