Abstract Objective: The microvascular architecture and the morphometric investigation in the Basilar Ganglion of the human brain will accumulate datas for the study of human brain's microcirculation and provide morphologic foundation and related parameters for the physiological and pathological studies of the brain circulation. Methods: The fresh brain specimens in which dead within 24 hours, 8 from children about one and half a year, were fixed by celloidin, sliced up, alkaline phosphatase stained, observed under optical microscope, calculated with stereological method. The microvascular density of the Basilar Ganglion(include the caudate nucleus, the putamen, the globus pallidus, the claustrum and the amygdaloid body) was quantitative analyzed and the microvascular was qualitative studied. Results:(1) In every nucleus of the Basilar Ganglion, the microarteries have two types: long microartery and short microartery. They trend circuitously, and have different forms. (2)The capillary anastomosed into meshes in the different neural structures of the Basilar Ganglion and the internal capsule. They have the different forms and their densities varied differently. In the Basilar Ganglion, the densities of the microvascular is,in turn, the putamen, the globus pallidus, the claustrum, the amygdaloid body, the globus pallidus, and the internal capsule. In the the putamen, the globus pallidus and the claustrum, the capillary meshes have the similar form, more dense, and the aperture is narrower. In the amygdaloid body and the globus pallidus, the capillary meshes have the similar form, more sparse, and the aperture is wider;but the capillary meshes in the amygdaloid body is more dense than in the globus pallidus. In the internal capsule, the distribution of microvascular has the same direction with the nerve fibre, and the diameter of the microvascular is wider, the aperture of meshes is larger.
